people had never thought of them. They will, if to be car- ried out, give you lots of troubles on earth. As this ac- tion of mine was merely a pretext under which I could manage an escape with my family of five, all Eritish subjects, on the first part of last March I left nongkong uncognito for Maccao where, though under the Japanese influence a block- ade, the Chinese special service men afforded me the neces- sary protection for a safe departure to the "Gorilia „rea" in Kwangtung and then to Free Jhina. I may add here that a numper of well-known British escaped from hongkong were ta- ken to China from Maccao by these men with my collaboration. Besides, under our secret scheme we had brought a great amount of valuable things, official and private, from long- kong to China notwithstanding the Japanese barriers. I am very happy to say that the Japanese are not smart enough for us, though they resort on weapons.
Before my departure from Hongkong I had three months of experience with the Japanese of the administration who were unusually good to me in respect of my ideas by which. they had realized to be benefited. what they did and what they planned are still surviving in my memory. Lots of things they imposede British had made my blood boiled but I was not in any position to help them in lessening their hardship even I was more than eager to help them. Any gesture on my part to arouse their suspicion was surely to put me to death. However, I believe, a great deal of information I acquired would be of some special value and help to your government.
Except the Japanese themselves who are happily sharing their spoil, all people now in Hongkong, including the ma- jority of the 20, mentioned above who have been awokened that they have no longer been treated by the Japanese on the square and have been victimized by their inborn trickery, have appreciateù greatly the British rule in the past and are anxious to have the return of ritish coverment.
